A combo edit includes both developmental and line editing and is the most comprehensive service I offer.
Partial Edit

A partial edit of the first 5,000 words and an outline/synopsis up to 10 pages long (optional) is available to anyone who doesn’t want a full manuscript edit.
On-Demand Editing
Pricing: Varies
On-demand edit is an option for established clients who have hired me for at least one editing project of a full manuscript (not just a partial). This is an option for those who want me to be available to provide feedback during the writing process, not just at the end when the work is finished.

Frequently Asked Questions
Editing
Which type of editing service should I choose?
A developmental edit is for writers who want to strengthen the storytelling aspects of their work. They might already have a different line/copy editor. Maybe they’re in the early/drafting part of the writing process and want to focus on the big issues and leave the polishing for a later time. Or they could be working on a tight deadline and need a quicker turnaround time.
A line edit offers feedback on the technical aspects of the writing such as issues of style, word usage, and so on. Writers going with this service might have feedback on the story elements already covered by a developmental editor, critique partners, and/or beta readers. This could also be a good choice for beginners or anyone looking to improve their craft.
A combo edit is the best option for anyone who want the full “glow-up” experience. By getting feedback on every aspect of the work—from the big picture issues such as story themes, plot, and character arcs to the more detailed issues of sentence structures and word choices—the writer is doing their utmost to make sure they end up with a finished work that publishers and readers will find polished and compelling.
A partial edit is a perfect for anyone preparing a partial submission to agents and publishers. It can also be an option for beginning writers to get some initial feedback on their story and their writing. And it can also be anyone wanting to make sure my editing style works before taking on the commitment of booking me for a full edit.
On-demand editing is for established clients who have previously hired me to do a full edit (developmental, line, or combo). This service is customized to the client’s needs and can include brainstorming ideas, ongoing feedback during the drafting process, a quicker turnaround time, and a more direct line of communication with shorter waits for a response.
After a line or combo edit, will my manuscript be ready for publication?
No, my line edits do not include copy editing or proofreading, so issues such as spelling and grammar will for the most part not be addressed.
What genres do you edit?
My editing/critiquing experience has been mainly romance, so this is the genre where I’m most familiar with reader expectations and can advise accordingly. From my experience as a reader, I also have varying levels of familiarity with historical fiction, women’s fiction, thriller/suspense (excluding cozy mysteries), horror, sf-f, and young adult.
I do not edit:
- Non-fiction, including biographies and poetry.
- Children’s books (middle grade and younger).
- Any sub-genre where one of the main themes is inspirational/spiritual/religious.
- “Taboo” romance that crosses my comfort threshold. My tolerance is pretty high, but if in doubt, please ask.
I am a beginner writer. Will you help me?
My editing services are most beneficial to writers who are at an intermediate level and above. I do not believe that paying a professional editor is the best way to start your writing journey. Alternatives that are more suitable include finding a critique partner/group, reading books about writing and storytelling, taking a writing class, or joining social media groups offering advice to beginners.
That being said, I will do a sample edit for anyone who is interested, and if I feel that you’ve got a good grasp of the basics of writing and storytelling, I’ll be happy to offer my services regardless of your experience level.
Pricing
Do you require a deposit?
To reserve a spot on my schedule, there’s a $150 non-refundable deposit for developmental/line/combo edits and $50 for a partial edit. The deposit is deducted from your total invoice after the work is completed.
Do you offer free sample edits?
How do I find out how much my Line/Combo Edit will cost?
You’ll send me a sample chapter from the middle of an unedited manuscript, and after I take a look at it, I’ll give you an estimated quote.
How much does On-Demand Editing cost?
On-Demand Editing is a custom arrangement and the cost will vary based on the client’s needs. Since this is only available to established clients, discussions about pricing can only happen after the completion of the edit of at least one full-length manuscript.
